I did a lot of research on knee braces, and after talking with friends and guys at the track, I narrowed down my decision to the Mobius X8 knee braces. I chose Mobius for the great reputation they’ve built in a relatively short period of time. They’re active in the sport and constantly advancing in safety technology. Of course, the positive product reviews I read helped too.
Ideally, anyone who rides or races motocross should consider a set of Mobius X8 Knee Braces as an essential part of their gear set. For me, added protection is something I don’t mind spending my money on.
The pricing for the Mobius X8 braces is competitive with other braces on the market and their customer service is top notch. So no worries there.
MY FIRST IMPRESSION
When I got the package, it looked rather large. What did I order?! The box contained both knee braces, different padding options for optimum fitment, and really, the braces just looked awesome! I really liked the overall design and close knee cup. The attention to detail and safety technology that goes into manufacturing these is obvious from the start. Mobius numbers the knee brace straps for you too! This is a nice touch to remind you of the tightening order. This is great for people like me that get way too excited to go riding and always try to be the first dressed. The brace is well constructed and feels very solid and light. Fitment seemed spot on. They did feel a little tight in the knee section, but I considered the fact that I was coming from set of blown out Asterisk knee braces and I was probably just used to the loose fit of a worn-out brace.
There were a couple things I wanted to know immediately;
My first question was answered quickly. The knee braces didn’t snag or get caught on the liner at all, and there was plenty of room in the pant for the braces. For me, that was a huge deal! My last set of knee braces (Asterisk) seemed to get caught every time, causing me to pretty much perform a magic trick to untangle the brace from the clip.
Some braces can feel bulky, but once I had these on, they felt thin and strong. I’ve been riding with knee braces for 18 years, so I'm used to the feeling.
If your new to wearing knee braces, please give it time. They will become part of you, and soon, riding without them won’t feel normal.
Overall, the fitment and stability of the brace makes for a very comfortable user experience. So far, I have ridden with these a handful of times and am very happy with them. I plan to do a follow up review on these braces to note wear and tear. Durability and further comfort. I hope to never have to truly test these braces out, but I’m confident they’re up to the task.
