Tightening your dirt bike spokes is really not hard at all and is something you should do before you hit the track or trails. The last thing you want is broken spokes or a bent rim because you neglected to check them before you rode.
The only tool you need for this job is a spoke wrench. I personally recommend Excel's Torque wrench for this job, because it takes all of the guess work out of tightening the spokes on your dirt bike. Some people make the mistake of tightening their spokes too much or not enough. The torque wrench just makes it easy.
A manual spoke wrench will work just fine. Just be sure to take your time when tightening your spokes and try not to over tighten them.
1.) Start at the valve stem of the wheel and begin by tightening the spoke directly behind the valve stem.
2.) Only tighten spokes 1/4 of a turn at a time.
3.) From there, skip 2 spokes and then tighten the 4th spoke. By tightening every 4th spoke, you will ensure that you do not get the wheel out of "True".
4.) Work your way all the way around the wheel until you are back at the valve stem.
5.) From there, move on to the second spoke behind the valve stem. Tighten that spoke, and then work your way around the wheel tightening every 4th spoke.
6.) Follow this procedure until all the the spokes are tightened.
